Round PTFE Cassette Holder
36160-3 for large cassettes
Designed for use in the PELCO BioWave® Pro+ for fixation or decalcification. Water, formaldehyde or EDTA can be recirculated around the cassette holder in the inner container. Outer container is to hold any spills and prevent damage to the microwave chamber. Standard round Cassette Holder 36160-3 is designed for easy loading and will hold 58 standard sized cassettes with size of 1.5" (40.6mm) L x 1.1" (28.6mm) W x 0.28" (7mm) D. The optional Mega Cassette Holder Middle Insert (36160-9M) for the Round PTFE Cassette Holder (36160-3) is designed to hold 24 large Cassettes (Macrosette - 27166). Simply remove the middle insert for the 36160-3 and replace with the Mega Cassette Holder Middle Insert (36160-9M).
Cassettes loaded into Square PTFE Cassette Holder 36200-4
Top piece put in place
The square-shaped cassette holder is designed to hold up to 78 standard size plastic cassettes, all the same orientation and plane. This assures that every tissue sample will see the same microwave conditions. The design can be used in the existing 36200 system for decalcification and formalin fixation and expands the capacity of the older system by being able to handle 20 more cassettes per processing run.
Red hose is for fluid in, fitted with a nylon screen to limit direct flow and white hose is for fluid out. A port in the lid is for insertion of the temperature probe.

The DFR Insert is comprised of the following components:
Processing Container 36200-1, Lid 36200-2, DFR Safety Tray 36200-3 and Round PTFE Cassette Holder 36160-3.
Dimensions:
Round PTFE Cassette Holder: 7.94cm H (with handle) x 17.5cm diameter (3.125" H x 6.875" diameter)
Square PTFE Cassette Holder: 7.94cm H (with handle) x 17.15cm2 (3.125" H x 6.75"2)
Inner Container (inside dimensions): 9.53cm H x 19.7cm2 (3.75" H x 7.75"2 )
Outer Container (inside dimensions): 6.99cm H x 34.3cm2 (2.75" H x 13.5"2 )
Microwave Tissue Jars
The Microwave Tissue Jars are an economical alternative for EDTA decalcification. The jars allow for less reagent use while maintaining temperature regulation with circulating water through the DFR Insert. The jars are equipped with a port for the temperature probe for temperature monitoring. The Microwave Tissue Jars work within the DFR Insert system utilizing the PELCO SteadyTemp™ Pro Digital Chiller.

Microwave Tissue Jars shown in the in Processing Container (36200-1), see above. The Safety Tray (36200-3) and Lid (36200-2), not shown in the picture, should be used during processing.
The Microwave Tissue Jar, when used with the PELCO SteadyTemp™, is an advancement over circulating EDTA. Less reagent is required and individual samples can be processed independently. The temperature in the jar is maintained by the setting on the PELCO SteadyTemp™, in conjunction with the wattage. For tissues like teeth and small bones, a 75ml volume of EDTA in the jar is sufficient to complete the decalcification process without the addition of new solution. We have found that a setting of 150W on the microwave, in conjunction with a setting of 24°C on the PELCO SteadyTemp™ will maintain a temperature of 40°C in the jars over extended processing times measured in days or weeks.
PELCO SteadyTemp™ Pro Digital Chiller
Fully integrates with the PELCO BioWave® Pro+ Microwave System to provide temperature control at the sample level.
The PELCO SteadyTemp™ Pro Digital Chiller provides precise, fully automatic temperature control for both decalcification and fixation applications within the PELCO BioWave® Pro and BioWave® Pro+ microwave systems. The specially designed PELCO SteadyTemp™ Pro connects directly to the microwave and is monitored and controlled from the PELCO BioWave® Pro and BioWave® Pro+ touchscreens.

Chloramine-T Algicide
A non-corrosive algicide for use with constant temperature bath or recirculation chillers like the PELCO SteadyTemp™ Pro Digital and chillers used for TEM/SEM systems. Chloramine-T algicide prevents the growth of algae which can be damaging to equipment and instrumentation. The product can be used as a shock treatment, or as a preventative treatment at a dosage of 1 gram per gallon. Best to use distilled water to avoid scaling and shield the bath and cooling lines from light.
