PELCO BioWave® Pro+ Electron Microscopy Application Kit
PELCO BioWave® Pro+ Electron Microscopy Application Kit
The PELCO ColdSpot® Pro
36116-10
designed as a temperature controlled surface
will enhance most tissue processing steps
The PELCO ColdSpot® Pro is designed for control of the environment inside the PELCO BioWave® Pro and Pro+ microwave systems. The water within the PECLO ColdSpot® Pro circulates through the internal Load Cooler within the BioWave® system or through the external PELCO SteadyTemp™ Pro chiller. This provides consistent temperature control at the specimen level as well as eliminating the standing wave pattern within the microwave cavity.
The PELCO ColdSpot® Pro is designed for microwave processing techniques that benefit from an efficient heat transfer between the PELCO ColdSpot® surface and the sample. This product design provides excellent temperature control for electron microscopy tissue processing, immunolabeling and in situ hybridization protocols. The glass surface dissipates heat quickly and efficiently. This design creates a flat surface across the entire glass top enabling a wide range of usage with consistency. The temperature of the water inside this PELCO ColdSpot® should not exceed 60°C (140° F) because the thermal properties of the plastic and the adhesive will be compromised at higher temperatures. All PELCO® Microwave processors can be set to maintain the temperature below this critical point. Designed for use with 3536 PELCO® Vacuum Chamber.
Glass plate area dimensions: 223 W x 291mm D (8.78 W x 11.34" D)
Overall dimensions: 267 W x 381 D x 108mm H (10.5 W x 15 D x 4.25" H)
PELCO® EM Pro Microwave Vacuum Chamber
3536
The PELCO® EM Pro Vacuum Chamber is made from microwave-transparent polypropylene and designed to reach a maximum vacuum of 20" of Hg. The PELCO® EM Pro Vacuum Chamber works in conjunction with the internal vacuum pump in the PELCO BioWave® Pro and Pro+ microwave systems. The vacuum chamber can run a continuous vacuum or utilize a vacuum cycle, depending on the application and need of the user.
Features
- Made of chemically resistant, microwave-transparent polypropylene and designed for vacuum down to 20" of Hg (1 torr/1mm Hg) and temperatures up to 70°C.
- Designed either to run a continuous vacuum during microwave processing or a vacuum cycle.
- Improves fixative penetration and ultrastructural preservation during microwave-assisted chemical fixation.
- Improves resin infiltration in the microwave and greatly reduces the turnaround times when compared to established microwave protocols.
- Can be used in or outside of the PELCO BioWave® Pro Microwave Tissue Processor.

1/4" ID Silicone Vacuum Hose
92490-253, 92490-256
Thick walled silicone vacuum hose with 1/4" (6.35mm) inside diameter and 1/2" (12.7mm) outside diameter. Sturdy, yet flexible material with wall thickness of 1/8" (3.2mm), will not collapse under vacuum. Sold in lengths of 3 and 9 ft.
Capsule Preparation Station
36131-6
The Capsule Preparation Station is designed for the size 00 embedding capsules as an aid for filling and orientation for polymerization. The prep station is made from polypropylene that allows for easy resin clean-up.
This Preparation Station is a capsule loading platform to maintain cleanliness from epon liquid spillovers from the above Microwave Capsule Holder 36131-2. This pre-loading station avoids a potential situation of water contamination in the microwave polymerization procedure. The 36131-6 permits the technician/scientist to pre-load 00 capsules. Capsules are then transferred to 36131-2 for the polymerization step in the microwave.
Microwave Polymerization System
Designed for resin polymerization using the 36131 or 36131-2 Capsule Holders in the PELCO BioWave® Microwave Tissue Processor
The Microwave Polymerization System contains all the components necessary for polymerization of resin within the BioWave® Pro and Pro+ microwave systems. The Microwave Polymerization System is compatible with epoxy and LR White resins.
Microwave Polymerization System
shown with the Polymerization Stand (36133-20)
and PELCO® Microwave Capsule Holder (36131-2)
on the PELCO ColdSpot® Pro (36116-10)
During microwave-assisted resin polymerization the microwave polymerization system is placed on the Microwave Polymerization Stand on the PELCO ColdSpot® Pro. The tray is filled with water to cover the 36131 or 36131-2 capsule holders. The insulator pad is placed on the surface of the water and the lid placed on the tray. There are two holes in the lid so that the temperature probe can be inserted on either side to monitor heating rates. This new system controls the rate of heating and the temperature maximum (100°C) without the loss of water during the polymerization process. Microwave wattage will control the heating rate which ensures a quality polymerization each run.

Microwave Polymerization Stand
36133-20
The Polymerizations Stand (36133-20) is a foam block used to elevate the Microwave Polymerization System (36133) above the PELCO ColdSpot® during resin polymerization. This elevation allows for controlled heating of the water in the Microwave Polymerization System. The Stand is microwave transparent and provides a stable base for the Polymerization System.

Corning Costar® Tissue Culture Plates
Tissue Culture-treated Plates are designed for a wide range of applications including general cell growth experiments, cloning studies, virus isolation and in vitro testing.
Plate bottoms have a uniform thickness, allowing for distortion-free observation. Alphanumeric coordinates are placed on the same focal plane as cell growth, for convenient referencing of cell position. Gripping edges make handling easier.
All plates have non-reversible covers with condensation rings to minimize evaporation and the risk of contamination.
Plates are made of optically clear, medical-grade non-pyrogenic polystyrene, TC-treated, sterile and are used for processing of tissue on the bench or in the microwave. The corresponding Wellplate Inserts are No. 36168 for the 6 cavity, No. 36170 for the 12 cavity, and No. 36172 for the 24 cavity.
